Task Instructions
requestAnimationFrame and elapsed latency is measured via performance.now(). Ordinary browser displays operate at 60Hz (~16.67ms frame quantisation).Experimental Block Completed
All trial-level timestamps, raw response times, condition labels and stimulus identifiers have been committed to the project dataset.

C. Stimulus CSV / TSV / JSON Import
Required columns: stimulus_id, text, condition, correct_key, language. Malformed rows are flagged before import.
F. Preview & Launch

Corpus Upload & Lexical Concordance
Upload an authorised UTF-8 corpus (.txt, .csv, .json) or analyse the text below. Computed token counts are strictly separated from researcher-supplied corpus frequencies.
Participant Management & Pseudonymous Registry
Manage study-specific pseudonymous participant identifiers, issue invitation codes and apply transparent exclusion rules. Direct personal identifiers (such as email addresses) are never used as experimental IDs.
Project-Specific Demographic & Language Background Forms
Design project-specific questionnaires with ethical justification for each field, validation rules, and version history.

About cognOlect
cognOlect is an integrated Psycholinguistics and Cognitive Linguistics Research Workbench designed for experimental linguists, cognitive scientists, postgraduate researchers, university teachers and language-documentation specialists worldwide, with dedicated support for under-resourced languages and multi-script communities.
Developer’s Note:
“I intend to make language research tools available to researchers across the globe. cognOlect is being developed to support experimental research, linguistic investigation and reproducible data analysis through an accessible and researcher-centred platform.”
Core Scientific & Ethical Principles
- Scientific Transparency: Every statistical output reports exact degrees of freedom, test statistics, effect sizes and underlying assumptions without fabricating p-values or claiming causation from correlation.
- Chronometric Honesty: Response times are captured using the browser’s monotonic
performance.now()clock synchronised torequestAnimationFrame. We explicitly document operating-system scheduling, 60Hz/120Hz display refresh quantisation, USB/Bluetooth keyboard polling latency and background-tab throttling. - Multilingual & Script Fidelity: Full Unicode preservation for Latin, Devanagari, Perso-Arabic, and IPA phonetic notation without silent normalisation or truncation.
- Participant Privacy & Pseudonymisation: Participant identity records are separated from experimental trial responses, and study-specific informed consent is version-locked.
Documented Technical & Environment Limitations
- Browser Display Timing vs Laboratory Hardware: Ultra-brief masked priming (<33 ms) is constrained by physical monitor refresh intervals (16.67 ms at 60 Hz). Sub-millisecond hardware trigger studies (EEG/MEG/eyetracking) require dedicated laboratory hardware such as PsychoPy/E-Prime with photodiode verification.
- Acoustic Signal Processing Scope: The Audio Laboratory implements deterministic Web Audio API signal processing (peak normalisation, dB gain, silence trimming/insertion, and high-pass + RMS noise gating). It does not perform neural speech enhancement or forced phonetic alignment (e.g. Montreal Forced Aligner).
- Institutional Ethics & Legal Compliance: Electronic consent tracking supports research governance but does not substitute for formal Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Research Ethics Committee (REC) approval.
